Healing Children Everywhere
Founded in 1979, Healing the Children has helped to change the lives of more than 146,000 children and their families. Our volunteers—which include everyone from doctors and nurses to host families, financial donors and more—provide services in the U.S. and throughout the world to children who for whatever reason cannot obtain medical care and treatment.
- HTC arranges for medical screenings, humanitarian visa documentation, transportation, host family support, donated medical care, and transportation.
- HTC collaborates with individuals,
doctors, hospitals,
businesses, government agencies, other nonprofit organizations, and service organizations in the U.S. and around the world.
- HTC provides medical care and treatment without regard to religious belief, national origin, political views, or cultural differences.
The work we do falls into five basic categories:
Stateside Assistance
We arrange for children in need to be brought here to the United States when their countries don’t have the resources or facilities to treat them. American families host the children while they’re here in the states.
Medical Teams Abroad
We send teams of medical professionals to countries all over the world where medical treatment facilities are under-funded, understaffed or in some cases practically non-existent.
Domestic Assistance
Healing the Children helps American children in need of medical attention, as well. These children are referred by schools, churches and other programs.
Pediatric Centers of Excellence
We have
built and helped to fund
a pediatric cardiology facility in Ethiopia, and have plans for more medical facilities in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and the Eastern Caribbean Basin in the near future. Our goal is to build the resources these places need so they can take better care of themselves without relying on outside help.
Continuing Education & Technology
Advances in telecommunication and teleconferencing have made it
feasible for medical personnel around the world to share best practices and consult with each other for diagnostic and treatment advice.
We’re working on equipping facilities with the technology needed to keep in step
and help provide better medical care for children everywhere.
Until our vision is realized, we hope to continue to be a powerful instrument of healing and hope. And we ask for your help in any way you can, to help us Heal the Children. |
